It’s Tuesday! This is our favorite posting of the week because we name a necklace after a woman in our lives and get to tell everyone why she is so special. Today we are naming one of our lariats after a woman named Celeste Ford. Celeste is my husband’s aunt and she exemplifies beauty, grace, and elegance. Celeste has 4 grown children and has 9 beautiful grandchildren. Boomer, my husband, describes growing up and visiting Celeste’s home at the time in Somers, NY as a place that was an oasis of family, support, acceptance, and love.
I first met Celeste back in 1991 when she hosted Boomer’s enormous family at his sister’s wedding. I was drawn to Celeste immediately. Unbeknownst to me, Boomer did not tell anyone I was coming and I arrive and quickly realize that there was no room for me. This being the first time I was meeting Boomer’s family and based on my more formal upbringing , I felt so uncomfortable and was quickly figuring out how to leave as I did not want to be the unwanted guest!! Celeste appeared and was sweet, warm, and accepting and quickly made me feel welcome. Celeste lost her dear husband Sam in 1994 when Sam was only 49 years old. Although this was a devastating time, she showed such resilience and spirit and provided strength for her family. This is something that Celeste taught me that no matter how hard life can be, you try and keep a positive attitude and take one step at a time. Love to you Celeste! May we present you with the Celeste necklace…
